Timing

I had a meeting at church this past week. The meeting time was 7:00pm which is Jim-Jim’s bedtime, but I had no choice but to bring him. In an effort to ease the blow to Jim-Jim’s schedule, I rushed home from work, fed him a bottle, and immediately put him down for a nap after getting him home from daycare. I noticed he didn’t burp after his bottle but due to the circumstances, the nap was more important. At 6:30pm, I packed him up, and we were off to my meeting.
We go to a very large church (www.fellowshipchurch.com) that is typically bustling with activity on the weekends. You can’t walk 2 cm without someone invading your personal space because there are so many people walking through the lobby at the same time! What an amazing testament to what God is doing with the local church! Going to church on a weekday is a very different experience. I arrived to a seemingly vacant building. I questioned whether I had made it to the right place because all the lights were dark and no one was around, but the door was unlocked so in I went.  I was walking through the very lobby that is usually crammed with people Sunday morning, and only one person was walking towards me. Right as the person and I were crossing paths, before I had a chance to make eye contact and smile, Jim-Jim let out the burp he’d been saving for the past 2 hours. A burp that reverberated off the concrete floors and rattled the windows in their panes. Thanks for that, Jim-Jim, thanks! At least if it were a toot, it would have been muffled by the diaper.
