Getting Well

I logged into Facebook Sunday morning and saw that my friend’s precious daughter was struggling, sick with a vicious cold. I logged in again Monday and saw that another friend’s beautiful kids were both suffering with the same exact virus. They were dropping like flies! And I knew it was coming. Jim-Jim would get it and rather than get over it in a few days like other kids, it’d move to his chest, and he’d have trouble breathing. Instead of praying that he didn’t catch it (he’s a daycare kid, I’m realistic), I prayed it was sooner rather than later, so he would have time to get over it before we sent him to Nana’s for the week. We love our boy fiercely, but we haven’t been looking forward to anything more than we’ve been looking forward to a week of being childless!

Jim-Jim came home from daycare on Tuesday, and I heard a cough. Then another. Sure enough, he picked up what’s going around and, sure enough, we’ve been doing breathing treatments. Does a mother know her child or what?! I’m staying home from Home Team tonight to get this boy well. We didn’t think sending Jim-Jim off to run himself ragged at the drop-in daycare until 10:00pm (his bedtime is 7:30pm) would do anything but hurt his little body that’s trying to recover. He’s in bed sleeping soundly, and I’m getting my Jesus in by desperately praying that he’s mended enough to hang out with Nana next week!

Getting well doesn’t mean you can’t have fun, too!
